Youth Development

Out of Bounds

"In the game of life, playing out of bounds does not have to be an option!"

Out of Bounds is a ground breaking community based initiative.  The program targets youth in grades 6 – 12 and interested parents and guardians that live in the Russell community and surrounding area.  The program is in response to years of research that suggest that at risk youth and their families have multiple needs and interrelated problem behaviors that are not likely to be addressed by single response, stand alone initiatives.  Out of Bounds consists of (8) program components:

  •  Case Management

    • Linking families to valuable community resources

  • MAP

    • A behavior management program that helps youth answer that nagging question, “Why do I do what I do?”

  • Recreation and Leisure Program

    • Recreation Room

    • Basketball Team

The Plymouth Bulldogs basketball program is one of the components of our ground breaking community based initiative Out of Bounds.  This component is designed to draw in at-risk youth from the Russell community and surrounding area.  The basketball program is intended to provide a safe environment for youth to interact and deal with “unproductive” time in which they can get in trouble.  The youth in the program are not only given the opportunity to learn teamwork and the fundamentals of basketball, but are also provided the tools to overcome obstacles and realize their full potential.

The Plymouth Bulldogs basketball team is in the Senior Southern Star Development Corporation Youth Athletic League.  The Senior League consists of (13) teams.  The Bulldogs practice on Tuesdays at the Southern Star Community Outreach Center gym at 2308 Algonquin Parkway.  The games are held at the same location.
